The letter asked prosecutors to reconsider their indictment decision and at the least question more witnesses. Soon after taking up his new position at the beginning of this month, Mr Khemchai revealed that his office had decided to indict Thaksin on a lese majeste charge and review other pending criminal cases. The lese majeste charge relates to remarks Thaksin made during an interview with Choson Ilbo newspaper in Seoul, South Korea, on May 20, 2015.
